Rare Antique Victorian Silver & Silver-Gilt "Man in the Moon" Stick Pin (1885) – In Original Fitted Box.  A beautiful, highly collectible example of late Victorian celestial novelty jewellery. This exquisite stick pin features a beautifully detailed "Man in the Moon" face nestled within a crescent moon. The pin is executed using the traditional "parcel-gilt" technique, creating a stunning visual contrast. The stylized, expressive face is crisp silver, while the surrounding crescent moon is finished in a warm, glowing gold gilt. The reverse of the pin is cleanly stamped with the British Registered Design Number: REGD 36333. This specific copyright number officially dates the design registration to mid-1885 with the British Patent Office.
  • Stem: Features the classic Victorian "friction twist" midway down the needle, a functional design element meant to securely grip silk cravats or lace collars.
  • Box: Accompanied by its original, unbranded Victorian fitted presentation box. The exterior features a classic aged patina, opening to a beautiful, vibrant blue velvet base and matching blue satin lid lining.
Excellent antique condition consistent with its 140+ year age. The silver face retains sharp, clear details. The gold-gilt finish on the crescent remains bright with only minor, expected age-related wear. The pin stem is straight and sturdy. The original box opens and closes securely, with minor exterior scuffing and clean interior fabric.
