Coffey Irish Woven Blanket | Ó Cobhthaigh Family Crest Throw
Coffey means victorious, and one Coffey quietly changed what the world drinks. This premium heritage woven blanket honors the Coffey family crest against the Irish National Tartan.
The Coffey Name in Ireland
The Irish is Ó Cobhthaigh, from cobhthach, victorious, with septs in Cork, Westmeath, and Roscommon — the Westmeath family were hereditary poets whose verse survives in the manuscripts. The name's most consequential bearer worked in a different trade: Aeneas Coffey of Dublin patented his continuous still in 1830, and the Coffey still went on to reshape distilling across the world. Coffee, the drink, has nothing to do with the name — a coincidence the family has been explaining ever since.
How the Coffey Blanket Is Made
There is nothing printed to wear away. Crest and tartan are woven from 100% premium cotton yarn through the cloth, finished with traditional fringed edges.
