Courcy Irish Woven Blanket | Kinsale Norman Family Crest Throw
John de Courcy took Ulster with a force small enough to be famous for it. This premium heritage woven blanket honors the Courcy family crest against the Irish National Tartan.
The Courcy Name in Ireland
The name is Norman, from Courcy in Normandy. In 1177 John de Courcy marched north from Dublin, took Downpatrick, and held Ulster as his own for a quarter of a century, beginning the great castle at Carrickfergus that still commands Belfast Lough. The family's lasting Irish seat, though, is at the other end of the island: the de Courcys of Kinsale, County Cork, hold the barony of Kingsale — the premier barony of Ireland — and have held it for more than seven centuries.
How the Courcy Blanket Is Made
Built in the weave, the way it should be. 100% premium cotton yarn forms the crest and tartan through the cloth, with traditional fringed edges.
